Founder & Chancellor
B.Eng. (Hons), MSc, MIET, MIEEE, MNSE, COREN
Engr. Arc. Irmiya Bitrus is a multidisciplinary engineer, academic, researcher, and built-environment professional with expertise in renewable energy systems, electrical/electronic engineering, sustainable construction, digital design, and advanced building technologies. He holds academic and professional qualifications across Nigeria and the United Kingdom, with active involvement in research and academic leadership.
With academic and professional experience spanning Nigeria and the United Kingdom, Engr. Bitrus brings a wealth of knowledge in teaching, research, engineering practice, renewable energy systems, telecommunications, Architectural Technology, and digital construction. His professional memberships and registrations include the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), with additional affiliations to the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE).
As the founder of Yedzaram University of Renewable Energy Technologies (YURET) in Maiduguri, Engr. Arc. Bitrus brings vision, credibility, technical competence, and a strong commitment to education-led transformation. His leadership aligns with YURET's aspiration to become a centre of excellence in science, engineering, technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development in North-East Nigeria.
